Practice Teaching Placement - Pre Service Teacher (Music)

Music Grades 9-12, Developed lesson plans for various music classes, including instrumental, jazz ensemble (large and small), guitar, vocal and Special Education music classes. Developed and delivered DIPF and APF lessons including various assessment and evaluation measures. Actively participated in extra curricular bands rehearsals and performances before and after school. Created unique handouts and listening resources, synthesizing music performance, history and theory. Developed and implemented “Jazz Gumbo” unit focusing on the three strands of the curriculum and incorporated a diverse range of assessment measures. Introduced new forms of technology in the classroom including iMovie and Garage Band.  Worked closely with Special Education Department Head to better meet the needs of students with exceptionailities. Attended staff meetings and IEP writing workshop.

Practice Teaching Placement - Pre Service Teacher (English)

English Grades 9-12, Created a variety of lesson plans for grade nine students with the aim of preparing them for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, using consistent application and assessment tools. Developed lesson plans for grade eleven students to foster independent study skills and introduce students to reading critically. Used various differentiation strategies to deliver a variety of topics and tasks, including cooperative learning and VAK techniques.  Assisted English Department Head in various duties including text book ordering and developing class syllabuses. Served as faculty member on student council, participating in meetings, fundraising, school spirit events and leadership workshops. Participated in music fundraiser “Dream Lottery and Concert” as well as  extra curricular rehearsals in preparation for the Ontario Regional Music Festival while collaborating with colleagues and music parent council.
