I am a Year 1 student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, currently studying Childhood Psychology and Early Education. I took up this course as i want to work with children in the future, most probably as a Child Psychologist. I will be updating the modules i am studying under the 'Education' tab every new semester.
I went to an overseas Service Learning Trip to Vietnam from 7th December 2009 to 19th December 2009. It was similar to an internship which i experienced before in Singapore, just that it was done in Vietnam, in a culture very different from Singapore. The tricky part is that we do not speak the same language as the children in Vietnam. Thus, we had to rely a lot on our body language in order to get the message across. We also had to pay attention on the children's body language and their facial expressions to get their message. More often then not, we need a translator beside us to aid us with our communication with the children. Nevertheless, the whole experience was very fun and enriching, and i definitely learnt a lot from that trip.
