Pitched and wrote stories for various sections of the campus publication, including student organizations, university news, city/state/nation, and arts and entertainment. I also created weekly posts to the "Columbia Today" blog and designed newspaper layouts.
Volunteered at the Citizen Jane Film Festival in Columbia, Mo. where I helped decorate the venues and serve food to guests at an artists’ reception and morning brunch.
Archived press clippings, assembled mailings, and ushered at author readings.
Responsible for creating "Quick Hits" blog posts twice a week by drawing news items from the organization's del.icio.us feed and posting to the progressive youth political activism blog.
I am currently a student at University of Missouri-Columbia majoring in journalism and minoring in anthropology while in the honors program. Originally from Boise, Idaho, my writing interests lie in the arts, new media, and social justice issues.
I am a staff writer, designer, and blogger with the MU independent student newspaper, The Maneater. I am also a non-fiction reader with the on-campus literary magazine, Epic.
I am currently seeking journalism internships for the summer of 2010. With my enthusiasm to learn, close attention to detail, and passion for writing, I am confident I would be a great seasonal member of any news organization.
