Fred Harmeyer graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1984, serving as a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law for one year on the Editorial Board and another year as Senior Editor. After passing the New York State Bar Examination, Fred Harmeyer immediately began a career in real estate law.
Fred Harmeyer spent the first four years of his professional career as a Real Estate Associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP and Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine. He developed expertise in areas including partnerships, sales and acquisitions, financing and lease negotiations.
In 1988, Fred Harmeyer joined Dean Witter Realty, Inc. as a Vice President.As part of a group acquired and managed more than 16.5 million square feet of property, Fred Harmeyer served as an investment officer. He also managed assets and sought new investment opportunities for the firm.
More recently, Fred Harmeyer has been involved as a group leader and Executive/Managing Director at top-tier firms including Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. He has worked in all facets of commercial mortgage-backed securities and real estate finance, managing debt and equity transactions for companies in the private and public sectors during his time at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. After establishing a leading commercial loan group at Merrill Lynch, he was involved in many of the industry's largest and most noteworthy transactions.
Fred Harmeyer earned his Bachelor’s degree at Yale University, where he majored in Economics and Political Science. He played at the varsity level for the University’s lacrosse and football teams.
