  • Managed a team of 31 staff across Australia, New Zealand and Canada.  A further 30+ staff were below these.
  • Performed difficult personnel duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
  • Analysed a particular service delivery process, identified changes and improved service delivery by 25%. 
  • Repaired relationships with several external providers, leading to a more harmonious relationship and improved delivery of their products/services.

General Manager

Minecorp Australia (Central Queensland Area)
  • Grew staff numbers from 5 to 20 in twelve months without impacting on the targeted profit margins.
  • Oversaw the throughput of over 100 vehicles per month.
  • Liaised with Fleet providers, operating businesses and end users to ensure vehicles we fit for purpose and met stakeholder expectations. 
  • Analyzed operations to evaluate the performance of the company, its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
  • Transformed the quoting process from a laborious day long paper-based process, to a system that could create a quote in only two hours.
  • Sponsored and delivered the Salesforce CRM to the organisation. Through this process,  I brought more simple quotes down to a few clicks to create.
  • Developed a Capability Statement considered so good it was used by QMI and State Development as the example of how to create and use such a document.
  • Rewrote several policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, so we were compliant and able to self-certify and winning large contracts from international mining companies. At the time we were the only local organisation to have done this without a full ISO9000 certification.

A community-based Credit Union providing complete Banking and Finance solutions to customers from across Central Queensland and beyond. Previously known as Capricornia Credit Union.

  • Oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Credit Union with 80 staff, 8 branches and 10,000 members/customers.
  • Prepared and Managed Operational Budget of $10 million.
  • Prepared all sales budgets and forecasts.  Focusing on a 'Sales through Service' mentality.
  • Delivered re-branding initiative that modernized the image and expanded the customer base.
  • Directed activities of several departments concerned with production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.
  • Oversaw Seven departments - Marketing & Sales, HR, Retail Network, Lending, IT&C, General Operations & Administration and Product Portfolio.

General Manager Business Development

  • Lead a team of 5 staff in the development and delivery of Marketing, Product and Business Development.
  • Redesigned the marketing function so that there was a consistency across the mediums.
  • Redesigned and developed new products recognised as Best in the Market by Money magazine.  The organisation received 15 awards over a few years from the magazine.
  • Developed pricing strategies, meeting institution objectives while maximising customer satisfaction.
  • Identified and Lead the implementation of the credit union becoming an in-house Mortgage Broker (selling other institution's loans).  At the time we were the first to go this route. Increasing Loans written by approximately 30%.
  • Executed and implemented a three-year re-branding initiative that modernized the image and expanded customer recognition by over 30%.
  • Facilitated real-time communication of all sales goals and initiatives to all stakeholders, both company-wide and external. Increased commission by 25% for each of the next three years.

Sporting Achievements

Over the years I have been successful in many sports, even competing on the International stage.  Highlight of this are:

1990 to 1998 Athletics
North Queensland and Country Queensland Discus and Shot-put Champion (U/20).  Competed four times at Australian University Games with 6th, 4th, 2nd, 3rd being amongst my best results in the disciplines mentioned above.

1992 to 1994 Powerlifting
Three consecutive State Junior (Under 23) Championships, and records in the Squat, Bench-press, Deadlift and Total.  Two consecutive State Open Championships ('93 `94), record in the Deadlift. 

Three consecutive Australian University Championships.  Records in all disciplines. 

1994 Australian Junior Champion and National Junior Deadlift record  holder (my record was broken in November 2009)

Represented Australia in Bali, Indonesia, at the 1994 World Junior Powerlifting Championships.  Placed 10th overall, with a best placing of 5th in the Deadlift.

1995 to 2005 Rugby Union

Member of the first CQU Rugby team to win a medal at a University Championship, a level which I competed five times in this sport.

Member of the 1998 Rockhampton Brahmans Rugby Team competing in the State Cup.


1992 to 1993 Central Queensland University Student Union

  • Elected as a Director of the Student Union Board of Management, where we represented over ten thousand students from across Australia.  Positions held and duties within this organization were:
    • Attend Board Meetings, to discuss, debate and vote on various issues and policies related to the Student Union.
    • Chair of the Personnel Committee ­where I was responsible for the setting of Personnel policy, performance appraisals and chairing the selection panel.
    • Sport and Recreation Coordinator. I worked hand in hand with the Sport and Recreation Manager and Committee to, set policy for sport and monitor various sporting clubs and events both on and off campus.
    • Student Representative ­ I attended and represented Students at disciplinary hearings conducted by the University Council.
