Responsibilities: keeping the RA editorial team up-to-date of the artists and events exciting Amsterdam and The Netherlands, supporting emerging talent, identifying great producers and collectives at an early stage for potential RA features and podcasts, helping the RA news-desk to highlight the best upcoming parties, managing RA’s Dutch and Belgian event and venue listings, identifying new opportunities for the RA’s tickets team, working closely with our partnerships team to build new links between RA and Holland’s best festivals and translation work to ensure the Dutch language offerings are of the highest standard.

Master Media Studies: New Media and Digital Culture

University of Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam is known for its pioneering new media scene, with its emphasis on Internet culture. Students are trained in the areas of info-aesthetics and visualisation, with its emphasis on how to read, understand and critique information graphics, interfaces and online interactivity. Among the expertise available to students is the emerging area of digital methods; Internet research approaches and techniques that are specific to the new medium and the study of natively digital objects. Depending on interests and skills, students may participate in research projects that concern Amsterdam new media events, festivals, exhibitions and installations, as well as international new media issues, such as Internet censorship.

Bachelor European Studies: Literature & Culture with German Language Credit

This international programme taught in English provides students with an overview of the politics, economics and law of the European Union (EU), while also introducing them to Europe’s history, literature and culture. Such a broad perspective is crucial to making sense of the challenges facing Europe today, such as the euro crisis, the questions posed by multi-cultural societies, and the role of the EU in, for instance, its relations with the Ukraine and Russia. After this BA programme, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to engage Europe’s complex present and future.

Bachelor Media & Culture: New Media

University of Amsterdam

The Bachelor's programme New Media is meant for students who are interested in contributing to timely discourse surrounding critical media theory. It builds upon the pioneering new media scene, with an emphasis on the study of Internet culture. Students gain an in-depth knowledge of new media theory, viewed from the perspectives of media archaeology, materialist and other critical traditions, and applied to such topics as blogging, locative media, networks and protocol.
