Planned and edited 50-plus print magazines a year (including editorial and promotional content), targeting best customers of Kroger, the country’s largest grocery retailer. Magazine topics included cooking, parenting, beauty, gourmet cooking/wine, sports events, holidays and more. Built and worked with a nationwide network of 300 top-tier freelance writers to contribute editorial content based on their expertise. Created and implemented editorial style guide to maintain cohesive copy, voice and tone across all Kroger best-customer publications. Concepted and wrote some of the industry’s highest-performing direct mail pieces (response rates of 40% and higher). These mailers engaged Kroger’s best customers on behalf of General Mills, GlaxoSmithKline, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and others. Helped proofread and copy edit print, web, and email creative pieces.

Contemporary Arts Center
Created and conducted local and regional public relations campaign to promote opening of new Contemporary Arts Center building (called “the most important American building to be completed since the end of the cold war” by the New York Times). Wrote press releases and fact sheets, planned media events, handled media outreach, and responded to ongoing media inquiries. Media outlets ranged from local (Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Magazine, and TV news stations) to national (New York Times, NPR, and CBS Sunday Morning). Coordinated with consultants on related national and international campaign. Wrote, edited, and directed redesign of quarterly Center newsletter.
