My name is Andy Tompkins. I am an experienced, talented and motivated individual seeking to join forces with a top tier distributor or craft brewery in the Chicago market. I have been in the liquor industry for almost six years, in retail and wholesale distribution, working in both on and off premise accounts. I have been fortunate to work for a leading Midwest distributor for four years, as well as the number one retail outlet for liquor in Illinois (Binny's Beverage depot). I have a solid background in a highly competitive sales market, representing some of the largest brands and suppliers in the world. I thrive under pressure and can always find creative solutions to meet sales goals. I am now seeking a position centered around the highly competitive marketplace of craft beer in the Chicago metro area. Avery has been a staple brand for me since my passion for craft beer ignited. There is nothing I enjoy more than educating and inspiring others on everything a craft beer has to offer. I am fortunate to be as passionate about the industry, as I am sales. I have worked in retail, distribution, and on premise which enables me to view the "big picture" and bring a unique perspective to my retailers. I am incredibly passionate about craft beer, and have visited almost 100 breweries. I am a home brewer, and have brewed beer at a production brewery. When I started with Wirtz Beverage my biggest weakness was my wine knowledge. I was fortunate enough to spend the last 3 1/2 years in the Horizon division, allowing me to hone my wine knowledge. As a result I am now confident in all major categories, wine, spirits, and beer. My understanding of the current craft beer market and trends far exceeds most reps and retailers I have met have. I am certain I would be a asset to your sales force, bringing a unique background and set of skills that will ultimately help grow business.

As a merchandiser with Wirtz Beverage Illinois, I have had the opportunity to spend lots of time making sales calls, and fully functioning as a sales consultant. I have a sales record that speaks for itself, and consider myself an expert at retailer relations. I have far exceeded the expectations set forth for me, and continue to push the boundaries every day. I pride myself on excellence sales and customer service skills, as well as being a problem solver and educator. I lead by example, and am constantly called upon to lead various team projects.
Effectively launched a business specializing in providing bartenders and servers for private events, after attending bartending school and receiving certification from the State of Illinois. In addition I received a BASSET certification (Beverage Alcohol Sellers & Servers Education and Training).
Binny's beverage is where my passion for the industry as sparked. I quickly immersed myself in the industry in order to become an expert to assist customers. Binny's is the number one liquor outlet in Illinois. I received an award for the best Guinness/Smithwick’s/Bushmills display among all Binny’s Beverage Depot locations, with the objective of increasing and driving sales and product awareness.
While at Oakton I continued to pursue my goals towards achieving a associate's degree before transferring to a four year university.
