Leadership

As the Vice-Council General of the Ambassadors for  the Thousand Oaks / Westlake Village, California Chamber of Commerce, I attended many business and community related events in the area of my influence with TruGreen LandCare.  Represented them at Ribbon Cutting ceremonies, community awards presentations, Built and drove floats in the local parades.   Having been given the challenge of starting and building a commercial landscape maintenance business in the Central Valley of California, I began by becoming involved in the community through networking at community events.  Building relationships with individuals and asking for referrals.  Through this I had closed a few small accounts enough to start a crew of 4 members.   Within 2 years my sales had increased from $3,500.00 per month to over $85,000.00 per month in annual maintenance service agreements with a minimum 35% gross profit margin.  Our crews had increased to 8 full time 4 man crews and one 3 man enhancement crew.     One major success was with The Honda Proving Grounds California located in a very remote portion of the California Mojave desert.  This clients needs were to impress visitors from all over the world with the facilities of this high end testing facility while maintaining very high security.  I conducted interviews with many perspective Foreman candidates and team members and finally chose what would turn out to be a very effective, reliable and capable team that to this day, is still providing the high level of service the clients expects as i am still in contact with the client as a friend now.

Entrepreneurial

Becoming a Snap-On Tool Dealer in Southern California and operating this one man dealership for nearly 10 years from 1985 until the Northridge Earthquake of 1994.  Accomplished what Snap-On Tool personnel described as highly successful given a territory and odds that I wouldn't last 2 years.  Was named "Dealer of the Year" in 1986 and again in 1988.    My skills as a merchandiser, presenter, sales person,customer relations expert, loan officer, loan collector were all honed and polished from this experience which I have carried into future successes.
