During the last three winter-holiday seasons, Florence Stasch has worked as a Sales Associate at Roger’s Gardens. Launched in 1965 by Roger McKinnon, Roger’s Gardens began operations as a storefront in Costa Mesa, California. In 1970, Gavin Herbert Sr. accepted ownership of the home and garden center and moved it to its present location in Corona del Mar. From September to January, Florence Stasch assists customers in the stores Home Gallery, a 5,000-square-foot showroom that houses Christmas ornaments and holiday mementos, as well as antiques, everyday household decorations, and gifts, including premium soaps, lotions, and candles.
Florence Stasch attended Oregon State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Education in 1967. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, including running, kayaking, and gardening, as well as artistic hobbies like painting. Ms. Stasch also finds pleasure in reading books such as The Great Gatsby and The Little Prince. Some of Ms. Stasch’s favorite authors include Walter Mosley and Jane Austin.
A passionate supporter of animal rights, Florence Stasch has contributed to a wide variety of related organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), which was the first humane organization established in the Western hemisphere. Founded in 1866 by Henry Bergh, the ASPCA played a primary role in securing legal authority to examine cases of animal cruelty and make arrests for crimes against animals. Florence Stasch is also affiliated with Defenders of Wildlife, Orange County People for Animals (OCPA), the World Wildlife Fund, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA).
