Summary

With well over a decade of professional design experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge, skill and leadership to each of my projects, most recently as principal designer and owner of Hamel Creative. I apply a user centered approach to my work, utilizing research and various design-thinking methodologies across a number of mediums to achieve a strategic and successful solution for all involved.

Principal Designer, Owner

  • Facilitate healthy and continuous client relationships while developing the business through referrals and project proposals.
  • Generate progressive design concepts by researching client needs and tailoring solutions and style to their specific identities.

Director of Interiors

  • Expanded both the design offerings and billable professional services of the firm, charging prospects an initial portion of the fees ahead of project award.
  • Brought in nearly of million dollars in new business during first year of employment, establishing best practices in proposal presentation.
  • Raised company profile and presence within the local art & design community through participation in events (Utah Arts Festival) and organizations (SEGD).

Senior Designer

  • Acted as resident technology, fabrication and 3D expert; Leading the creative on several major venues and supporting projects across the studio through conceptual sketching and design visualization.
  • Balanced the clients’ desires and project goals, budget and timeline while researching, sketching and communicating about the development.
  • Led the activation of the Texas A&M‘s Hall of Champions, an immense interactive, multimedia event and exhibit space that tells the stories of the famed athletes and sports teams at the university. The studio’s largest and most immersive experiential design project to date.

Lead Designer/Project Lead

  • Serviced a majority of the long-standing theatre clientele, creating a national roll-out of thematic, brand activations across 40+ locations.
  • Developed the sports marketing division, currently the company’s largest funnel of revenue; Infusing emerging technology and quantifiable marketing into the designs of several partner activations at major event venues.
  • Held role of student liaison to local college and university design classes, giving tours and leading critiques.

Mason/Laborer/Marketing Coordinator

  • Anticipated and gathered materials needed for various jobs.
  • Consulted with clients about structural and aesthetic architectural details.
  • Built out and maintained company web presence.

Bachelor of Art - Industrial Design

Earned an industrial design degree through the fine arts department while studying business management and art history as non-major concentrations.
