Preformed office duties such as answering phone calls, filing and database entry. Helped organize monthly luncheons and annual spring festival. Organized approximatley 300 provider information binders  by packing up all discontinued providers information and put them in storage then reorganized current provider binders  in alphabetical order.

Care Provider

Developmental Disablity Resources

Provided respite support for a client with developmental disablities. Performed activites such as going to the movies, taking the client to get ice cream, playing cards and reading books with the client. I assisted the client with bathroom, eating and drinking needs as well as assisting him in walking.

My expected  graduation date is May 2010. I will be graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Human and Community Services with a concentration in health science. I am CPR certified and  a N.C. Certified Nursing Assistant . I have had many clinical experiences in the nursing home and hospital setting. Thepopulations i am most intrested in is geriatrics, adolescents and the developmentally disabled.

Communication

I have learned the proper communication skills to use when working with clients through my degree requirements at Queens.  When working with populations such as the developmentally disabled it is important to consider that each client and their family  has different and special needs. The first step in meeting their needs is succefully communicating with them while offering support for them.

Caregiver

I have experience in being a caregiver for the developmentally disabled and the geriatric population. I have had clinical experience in working in the nursing home and hospital setting with a variety of populations. I have also been a care provider for clients with developmental disablities.

Research Methods

Researching is one of the skills i have aquried thorugh my time at Queens. I am able to evaluate, research and propose reasearch ideas in a knowledgable manner.

Summary

I am seeking an internship in the human and community service field with an organization that serves the developmentally disabled that uses my skills of attention to detail, communication, research and teaching  in the Charlotte N.C. area. I have an interest in working with the developmentally disabled population as well as the geriatric population. I have daily interactions with people who are developmentally disabled though my community. One of my long term goals is to finish my nursing degree that I started at Queens. I am passionate for helping people regardless of their disability, race or age.

Interest

I have performed community service activities that serve the developmentally disabled population.I have  helped these clients by cleaning their houses and doing yardwork for them. I volunteer annually for the Developmental Disablity Resources Spring Festival that is put on for the clients and the population that they serve.  I have also had the priviledge of going to the Dominican Republic  on a mission trip where I was apart of helping many underprivledged children. I have also been to Floridia three times in order to perform community service activities that served the elderly.
