Hotel Caprice

Took over a traditional hotel in the Swiss Alps after bankruptcy  and successfully turned it into a profitable, high-end luxury business. Achieved several distinctions including Small Luxury Hotels of the world status. 

Steered the company’s vision and aspirations. Maintained total involvement in all aspects of the business to ensure financial viability, innovation, guest satisfaction and a team-based staff atmosphere. Managed both a multi-cultural and cross-functional staff which covers all hotel and restaurant operations.

  • Hotel Turnaround:
    • Orchestrated successful turnaround that delivered strong financial results over a five-year period.  
    • Improved gross product 138% and reduced total functioning expenses from 80% to 73%.
    • Increased EBITA by 182%.
    • Increased Gross Operating Profit by 287%

    • Spearheaded creation of business plan for boutique hotel.

Resort General Manager

Club Med

Directed multiple lage-scale resorts with 900+ beds and 350+ staff for periods of six-months to two-years. Interacted with diverse clientèle and staff in locations including: North & South America, Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

Oversaw all aspects of Club Med's multi-faceted operations includingaccommodation, food and beverage, entertainment, human resources and more.

Operational Oversight:

  • Resort launches & Property Enhancement : 
    • Successfully led several large-scale resort launches in worldwide locations. 
    • Increased property value through operational efficiencies and innovative expansion and development
  • F&B management: 
    • Supervised the functionality of resort's multiple F&B outlets. 
    • Constantly revamped menu choices to assure guest satisfaction.
  • Staff training and crisis mitigation: 
    • Led creation of  training programs for new staff and development of local employees. 
    • Successfully mitigated several staff disagreements 
  • Financial planning  and communication: 
    • Oversaw improvement efforts in both internal operational efficiencies and external vendor cost-cutting decisions

    • Managed the successful re-opening of large-scale resort in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia as part of a 2 year intensive assignment.
    • Expanded infrastructure, trained staff, initiated vendor relations and fostered local community endorsement. Opened the resort on time and within budget
  • Crisis Management: 
    • Successfully managed  high-pressure, and potentially violent, crisis situation in Corsica involving armed robbers and hostages
    • Handled staff strikes in Mexico while keeping resort operationally functional
