JOB DESCRIPTION (a) LECTURING: I have been teaching multidisciplinary courses both at postgraduate and undergraduate level. The post involved curriculum development, preparation and delivery of lectures. I have taught the following courses and will be happy to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to Electrical and electronic engineering, computer engineering and IT related areas. (i) MICROPROCESSORS: The course covers various topics on 8/16/32/64 bit microprocessors. The students are taught how to design microprocessor based systems including software and hardware development stages. Intel Assembly language is also covered in detail. This course also has a two lab experiments and supervision and assessment of a project. (ii) COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE: The course covers advanced CISC and RISC microprocessors, Multiprocessor and parallel processing and various forms of computer architectures. This is core subject, where students are taught advanced topics with design examples. The students are also required to carry a mini project related to computer architecture area. (iii) SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the essential software engineering body of knowledge. Topics to be covered include overview of information systems and devices in a global network environment, threats to information systems and devices, security models, and concepts for secrecy, integrity and availability. (xiii) IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT: The main aim of this course is to give students an appreciation of the importance of a thorough understanding of IT project management techniques, both technical and human. The students learn basic project management knowledge, training, and methodology to plan, execute, and manage IT projects. The topics include, fundamental of IT project managements, project planning, scheduling and management, use of computer software in the management of IT projects. (xiv) IT SECURITY ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT: The objective of this course is to provide students with basic appreciation and understanding of the underlying issues related to administration and management of IT security. Topics include intrusion detection systems, vulnerability analysis, computer forensics, application logging, auditing and data management, risk management, IT security standards, planning and evaluation, ethical and legal issues. (xv) PATTERN RECOGNITION: The course covers topics such as different steps that enable a Pattern Recognition (PR) system to classify an input pattern, Familiarize with the PR terminology such as: segmentation, feature extraction, classification, post processing, training, supervised/unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning, Measure or compute the minimum error rate classification and decision regions for classical density functions, Post process classification of a sequence and classification models. (xvi) ADVANCE TOPICS IN COMPUTER VISION: The topics covered include: introduction to low-level image analysis methods, including image formation, edge detection, feature detection, and image segmentation. Image transformations (e.g., warping, morphing, and mosaics) for image synthesis. Methods for reconstructing three-dimensional scene information using techniques such as depth from stereo, structure from motion, and shape from shading. Motion and video analysis. Three-dimensional object recognition. (xvii) RESEARCH METHODS: In this course, the students learn the skills that are essential to becoming a successful researcher. The topics include research methodology, experimental design, professional ethics and academic integrity, and oral and written presentation techniques. Students will be required to perform a literature survey (on a topic in their own research area), construct a research proposal that includes an experimental design, and write a paper summary in the style of a formal scientific paper. (xviii) TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY: The main aim of this course is to teach the social, economic, and technological environment that the Engineering, Science and other profession operates in and the current issues relevant to them. (xix) DIGITAL LIFE STYLE: The digital gadgets and lifestyle covered in this course include: Home Entertainment Systems, Game Consoles, Digital Audio Players and Systems, Digital Cameras and Video Camcorders, Personal Computers, Mobile Phones and PDA. Upon completion of this course, students shall understand how the latest digital gadgets work and have sufficient expertise on the principles, operations, features and technical specifications of these electronic devices. (b) DEMONSTRATOR My duties included tutorials and demonstration on: (I) Microprocessor based design for B.Sc. students. (II) VLSI Design for M.Sc. students. (III) Software Engineering for second year B.Sc. students. (c ) EUROCHIP/ECAD OFFICER As a Lead Site officer I was responsible for distributing and providing technical support for EUROCHIP software packages, to the Higher Educational Institutions within the U.K, including Universities, Polytechnics and Higher Education Institutions, which use the software for teaching and research purposes. This post also involved organising and running training courses for users for various CAD Software Packages. Technical support was also provided to the user sites for interfaces between the EUROCHIP software packages and the related software. My paper titled A Novel Trust Service Provider for Internet-Based Commerce Applications , published in Internet Research Journal, Emerald, UK, was selected as the most Outstanding Paper in the 2002 Volume . Teaching Award: Best Teacher Award 2004 . This award is annually given by Nanyang Technological University and is based on teaching feedback by students and a selection committee headed by senior management. I was selected best professor from 250 EEE professors. My average teaching feedback for the past 5 years has been 4.6 out of 5 (normal average of most professors in NTU is 3.00).
