Welcome to my online portfolio - I'm very glad that you have taken the time to visit and learn more about me!
As a student of Nipissing University’s Schulich School of Education, I have completed qualifications to teach Music and Biology in the Intermediate and Senior divisions.I completed my undergraduate degree in Music Education (Honours) at the University of Western Ontario in 2011. As part of my personal commitment to lifelong learning, I will be completing an additional qualification in Special Education in July 2012.
I believe strongly that education is about giving back.I am fortunate to have had a number of very wonderful teachers growing up, and I want to contribute what I can to a long history of mentorship and collaboration.Effective education creates thoughtful, caring, successful people, and I cannot think of a profession with which I would rather be affiliated. My classroom will be a dynamic place filled with enthusiasm and curiosity, and I will examine issues of relevance through my use of the curriculum. It is my view that every student should have a place to feel welcome, successful, and safe to share his or her values and opinions while developing the intellectual curiosity that leads to a passion for lifelong learning.
In my practice teaching reports, my commitment to professional learning has been evident.I have often experimented with new and sometimes unfamiliar technology such as interactive whiteboards and document cameras, and integrated them into my lessons whenever possible.Associate teachers have described my lessons as dynamic and engaging, and I always strive to be adaptable to any situation.I have been praised for my ability to collaborate with other teaching staff to support student learning, and for developing great rapport with teachers as well as students.
