Investigate and prepare high exposure property damage and personal injury claims in preparation of litigation. Communicate applicable procedures and tariffs to Executives, Account Managers, customers, community leaders, and regulators in response to escalated customer complaints. Update management, counsel, and the company's excess insurance carrier on the status of high exposure lawsuits. Assist Claims Manager in the development of Claims personnel and the administration of polices and practices. Supervise and monitor Claims Adjusters and Senior Claims Adjusters in the Delmarva Power region. Control workflow and assignments to ensure the Claims area is operating effectively and efficiently. Conduct timely, fair and accurate performance appraisals with constructive feedback and appropriate coaching. Assist in the interviewing/hiring practice. Facilitate the development of subordinates by providing challenging assignments.
Highlights and Achievements:
- Successfully assisted in the development and implementation of Claims Department’s policiesand procedures.
- Successfully negotiated claims to assist and enable Delmarva Power to proceed withcapital projects.
- Successfully defended numerous files after investigative findings proved that Delmarva Power had no liability.
- Decreased the Company’s financial exposure by successfully negotiating numerous liability claims to avoid additional legal costs and/or a jury verdict.
