Libraries contain the gleanings of civilization.  The focus of my work as a librarian has been both to make those gleanings available and to help people understand and produce materials that will be worth gleaning.

I have managed libraries, written numerous award winning grants, authored a five year strategic plan for a system of 14 libraries, supervised 16 library aides for a school district, managed 10 budgets, upgraded 14 catalog servers, led reference and circulation departments for a college and integrated information literacy into curricula for K-College students.

In addition, I worked in IT for 6 years.  During my free time I became a Certified NetWare Administrator and founded five book groups.

  • Manage Access & Technical Services Departments
  • Supervise a staff of five (professional and paraprofessional)
  •  Manage three interlibrary loan arrangements (MARINet, Camino and ILL through WorldCat)
  • Ensure library is staffed during all hours of operation (~100 hours per week)
  • Performed a lead role in transition to join the MARINET consortium
  • Lead author of award winning grant for a Mobile Mac Lab (won largest grant of any in pool)
  • Implemented the grant, we now loan patrons 26 MacBooks
  • Worked with Disability Services to provide speech recognition capabilities on all MacBooks
  • Served as liaison between the library and the natural science departments
