Law student Eston Whiteside of Des Moines, Iowa, possesses a long history of achieving and surpassing his goals, regardless of whether they involve work-related and professional pursuits, recreational and sports engagements, or some of his many other passions. Currently enrolled in Drake University Law School, Eston Whiteside plans to graduate with his Juris Doctor in May 2013. Mr. Whiteside balances his studies with active involvement in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the University’s Health Law Society.Before attending law school, Eston Vance Whiteside earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with Financial Applications from Southern Methodist University. Throughout his undergraduate and graduate school careers, Mr. Whiteside has spent his breaks working in jobs or internships that either advance his professional aspirations or fulfill certain interests he holds. In 2005, he deejayed for WVUA-FM, the student-run radio station of the University of Alabama, where he was the 4-6 p.m drive time DJ. During a summer break from Southern Methodist University, Eston Whiteside interned for the London-based Towers Watson reinsurance brokerage, at which he developed a background in marine-related risk management products. A few summers later, Mr. Whiteside worked as a Project Manager for the Industrial Development Authority of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. His duties in this latter position included developing greenspace projects and managing a multimedia product safety campaign. During his 2011 and 2012 summers, he clerked for the Nashville, Tennessee, law firm Hollins, Raybin & Weissman, P.C.Eston Vance Whiteside’s achievements also extend outside of the professional realm. He holds the esteemed Boy Scouts of America rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that requires strong leadership and the completion of many hours of community service. An avid outdoorsman, Eston Whiteside has hiked 65 miles of the extensive Appalachian Trail, Civil War battlefields, and the battlefields of Normandy, France. He has also canoed Arkansas’ White River.
