Esther Burnham, formerly Esther Furrer, has focused for the past 12 years on grant development and budget leadership within the field of education in El Paso, Texas. She joined the El Paso Education Initiative, Inc. in 2002 and, during her tenure with this organization, secured multiple grants for curriculum and facilities development. She implemented critical funding, which included three Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Academies Implementation (T-STEM) grants, with keen attention to budgetary and documentation compliance. She successfully served first as the finance administrator and subsequently as the organization's assistant superintendent of finance. In this role she secured and managed federal grant awards valued well into the six-figure range.
The former Esther Furrer joined the team at the El Paso Education Initiative, Inc. backed by expertise in budget management and operational efficiency analysis. Previously serving as the budget coordinator for the Council on Foreign Relations Studies Program, she analyzed and reported on complex streams of revenue and expenditures involving varied foreign affairs research projects. She had similar success as a policy analyst for business affairs and waste management in the Mayor's Office of Operations in New York City and as an operations and budget analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Ms. Burnham graduated with a bachelor of arts in economics, cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin.
