A strong student-centered service ethic is at the core of all my work.  This value acts as my compass for decisions and actions - whether it is instructing library research classes,  designing user-friendly guides, serving on university committees or any of many other activities we engage in.  

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Design and Teach 15-30 specialized research and citation skills classes per term to School of Business students.  Many instructional sessions require a high level of customization, including evaluation tools.  This is achieved by close collaboration with instructors from diverse areas of the university.  
  • Receive consistently positive feedback from students and instructors
  • Work with individual students on more complex research projects online or in office hours.
  • Create various Subject Guides to aid in teaching or for students to use in self-directed  study

Reference Service Coordinator
  •  Assure that reference help is available to our students in all its forms: at the reference desk, online by chat, by phone, email, and by appointment.
  • Assist students with individual research requests by teaching information literacy skills that encourage research self‐sufficiency.
  • Create and manage research help desk schedules for 4 campuses
  • Manage Ref-analytics to keep necessary statistics
  • Monitor surveys and feedback forms as additional methods of evaluation
  • Askaway virtual reference coordinator

Liaison Librarian

Liaise with Faculty in School of Business and Fine Arts.  This includes:

  • developing curricula for Business and Fine Arts research sessions
  • promoting, planning and scheduling teaching sessions
  • demonstrating relevant resources to faculty
  • soliciting feedback or opinions on materials under consideration
  • purchasing and promoting new acquisitions through emails and newsletters
  • planning for materials for upcoming new courses
  • promoting and facilitating addition of faculty and student academic output to institutional repository

Chair of Librarians
  • Act as initial resource and contact for all library faculty
  • Participate and ensure librarian representation on Kwantlen committees
  • Coordinate, schedule and chair regular Librarians' meetings including preparing agenda and relevant packages
  • Organize Training days or PD opportunities

Collection Management
  • As member of Technical Services team, participate in the selection, acquisition, processing, and maintenance of our collections.
  • One of 2 Collection Librarians responsible for overseeing General Collections including Special Collections and Donations
  • Responsible for budgeting, selecting and managing School of Business and Fine Arts Collections
  • Served on Senate Standing Committees
  • Created various Library Impact Reports for proposed new degrees and diplomas
