Leeds Beckett University

Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Peace and Development at Leeds Beckett University in Leeds, England. I am in my second semester and will complete the program and receive my Master’s Degree in the fall of 2015. The goal of the Peace and Development Master’s is to develop a deeper understanding of peace/conflict studies, global development and the management of projects. My Master’s course is very international, expanding my awareness of varying perspectives, ideologies and opinions. Furthermore, I attended a beginners Arabic language course offered by the University.

Heidelberg University

Undergrad degree in German Language Studies completed at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Successfully passed the American Council on The Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) German proficiency test with a score of 'Advanced' in listening, speaking and writing. Strong emphasis on political and social science curriculum in addition to German. Graduated with a 3.7 GPA and participated in Heidelberg's Men's Soccer Team 2010-2014,  Model African Union in 2010 and Model United Nations in 2014.

Studied for a year at the Heidelberg Universität in Heidelberg, Germany. Required time abroad was split into two spring semesters so that I could participate in men's soccer which took place in the fall. While studying in Germany, I attended a wide variety of courses in both German and English. For example, German Creative Writting, Afghanistan-Pakistan Relations and German Media post-1945.

Translator and Coach

Ballschule Heidelberg

Completed an internship at the Ballschule (Ball-School) in Heidelberg, Germany. The Ballschule is a school program that aims to assist young children in developing their fine motor skills. I served as translator and assistant coach. Furthermore, I was fortunate to be a group leader at the 2014 Ballschule Festival, which included over 300+ children from different schools in the Heidelberg area.

Team Leader Habitat for Humanity

Served as a team-leader for Heidelberg University's Alternative Spring-break trip to West Liberty, Kentucky. In 2012, West Liberty was severely damaged by a Tornado. My colleagues and I worked together to paint the interior of a house constructed for a family in West Liberty by Habitat for Humanity volunteers.

Event Organizer at Hip-Hop for Love

Assisted in the planning and organization of the charity concert, Hip-Hop for Love, at Heidelberg University. Hip-Hop for Love featured Syrian-American Hiphop artist, activist and Poet, Omar Offendum. All the collected proceeds went towards Omeid International, which provides housing and education for Orphans in Afghanistan.

Movie Tavern

Worked as a server at the Movie Tavern in Columbus, Ohio. My job at the Movie Tavern helped me develop a stronger work ethic, the ability to remain calm in testing situations and communicate well with others.
