Seymour Cohen founded Empire Carpet in 1959, at which time it was a small family-owned business based out of Chicago. Today, Empire Carpet is a national name that serves over 35 large metropolitan areas and is widely known for its catchy jingle that double vocalizes the company’s toll-free telephone number, (800) 588-2300, connecting it to the name Empire. Lynn Hauldren, the advertising executive behind Empire Carpet’s jingle, also created The Empire Man and his persona, who was seen throwing the first pitch for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in 2007 and has since become a popular bobble-head doll. Since Empire Carpet’s inception, its product line has continued to expand and now, in addition to carpet, it offers hardwood, vinyl, ceramic, and laminate flooring options as well as window treatments, area rugs, and tub and bath liners. Empire Carpet runs on an at-home business model, where knowledgeable representatives come directly to a customer’s home to display product samples and offer estimates. Equipped to service both homes and businesses, Empire Carpet also works in large commercial spaces, such as airports and hotels, completing these large jobs on schedule and at the client’s convenience. With a devoted customer service team and rigorously trained and tested installers, Empire Carpet has consistently been recognized with awards by the Better Business Bureau and the American Business Awards. In 2008, Empire Carpet won the Angie’s List Super Service Award. Empire Carpet was fully accredited by the Better Business Bureau in June 1974 with a consistent A rating, and it also holds multiple local BBB accreditations.
