I am a senior in Western Washington University's journalism program. I have been published in three school publications, I was Features Editor on The Western Front for one quarter I'm now Editor-In-Chief. I love everything about journalism and I hope to find a job with a news-feature oriented publication after I graduate in August.
In addition to my work with school publications, I have also had three writing and reporting-intensive internships and jobs. First I worked with a company called Fashion Fair PDX writing fashion advice blogs and spotlighting Portland boutiques. Next I worked for Western Washington University's Office of University and Government Relations writing blog articles about higher education legislation. I also worked with Western Advocates, a nonprofit lobbying agency working to generate funding for Western, to use social media to find new contributors. While working with Western Advocates, I created two videos profiling students who were affected by higher education budget cuts. These videos were later published in the Seattle Times' Campaign for Greater Good. I also managed a higher education funding news feed.
Wrote two feature stories. Writing for The Klipsun is very competitive. Out of a staff of 25, I was one of two reporters to have both stories published.
