Fairmont Raffles Hotels International

FRHI’s development lead for growing Raffles, Fairmont and Swissôtel hotel and residential brands in the USA and Canada.Responsible for sourcing opportunities, business term negotiation, FRHI Development Committee underwriting and approvals, negotiating all deal agreements for management, brand licensing, equity contributions, debt financing agreements and development.

  • Successfully negotiated contracts for 20 luxury hotel and resort properties with an aggregate real estate value in excess of US$3.5 billion and management contract value to Fairmont in excess of US$375 million.
    • Brokered the sale of the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort using a Fairmont purchase option that resulted in a valuable long-term hotel management agreement and owner commitment to spend $150 million capital improvements.
    • Negotiated a joint-venture agreement for three hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and a future third hotel.Established an early Fairmont presence in Dubai leading to many other deals in the Middle East.
    • Negotiated the agreements for Fairmont management of the world-famous Plaza Hotel in New York City, an ultra-luxury hotel with full butler service and one of the highest $ADR in New York.

    • On behalf of a group of Central American investors that held hotel properties individually, created a holding company and hotel management company called Imperial Hospitality Management which operates Hoteles Princess in Central America, now operating seven hotels.
    • Acted as advisor and appraiser of Toronto-based CAP REIT apartment building investment trust.Created a systematic due diligence and valuation approach that incorporated the investment underwriting requirements for dozens of transactions.
  • Initiated, developed, and published a survey-based hotel investment and development overview covering the Canadian hotel market in 1990s, focused on macro and micro economics of Canadian hotel industry and valuation and investment metrics used by investors.Presented the findings each year to banks, investors and industry.
