Project Description:

Construction and Business Bank is one of the two commercial banks that are owned and run by the Ethiopian government. The bank is one of the few pioneers of banking services in Ethiopia from which it has earned a significant reputation particularly from its long term mortgage finances which remains to this day a market position dominated by the bank. In order to boost its deposits further, offer flexible, efficient and real time banking services the bank is working on automation projects such as those on ATM and POS product delivery channels side by side with the implementation of its core banking solution named Temenos/T24

As a result of this and for implementation of the same systematically, the bank had formally established a separate project office, BSSI (Banking software selection and Implementation) Project Office which is further categorized in to four major components mainly based on the type of activity involved;

  • Infrastructure Design and Implementation
  • Data Migration
  • Enterprise Software Deployment
  • Training and User Acceptance Testing

The main objective of this project to migrate the command based legacy bank system (OwnSys) data to the new acquired GUI based Banking System (Smart Bank Software).

  • Analyzed the bank’s  legacy system functionality in order   to map with smart bank software functionality
  • Performed Report Design using Oracle Form 6i & Oracle Report 6i
  • Wrote PL/SQL query to generate data in text/excel format from Smart bank software to reconcile with legacy system data.
  • Performed data Mapping between the legacy system to Smart bank software
  • Migrated the data files  of OwnSys  to Smart Bank Software
  • Performed data cleansing after the data migrated to Smart Bank Software Using PL/SQL script to Oracle database.
