The Elena Tresh Foundation in Safety Harbor, Florida, offers a variety of services for families coping with the illness of a child. Jennifer Tresh, the founder of the Elena Tresh Foundation, dedicates the organization’s activities to the memory of her young daughter, who died of cancer shortly before her sixth birthday. Jennifer Tresh spends the majority of her time fundraising and advocating on behalf of the Elena Tresh Foundation. As part of the Elena Tresh Foundation’s fundraising efforts, the organization sponsors a number of annual events. In April 2010, the Elena Tresh Foundation hosted a Moroccan dinner benefit and in December 2010 it will host its Snow Fest. Snow Fest activities will include a giant snowslide, children’s visits with Santa Claus, carnival games, food and beverages, and live musical entertainment. Outside of her fundraising efforts, Jennifer Tresh constantly networks with other children’s aid organizations in the region in order to build awareness of the services offered by the Elena Tresh Foundation. Jennifer Tresh also maintains ties with the business and greater civic communities. The Elena Tresh Foundation provides three financial assistance programs for families with children battling a life-threatening or terminal illness. All of the Elena Tresh Foundation programs seek to provide aid that no other agency offers. Eligible expenses range from grocery and phone bills to costs associated with children’s birthday parties and Christmas or Chanukah gifts. In order to apply for assistance, individuals can visit the website or ask their physician to refer them by writing a letter to the Elena Tresh Foundation. The Elena Tresh Foundation is funded entirely through events, fundraising donations, and is also supported by Jennifer Tresh herself.
