Renowned hair designer Egypt Lawson has over 20 years of experience in creating wigs and other alternative hairstyles. As Co-owner and President of Hairline Illusions, LLC, Egypt Lawson manufactures biodegradable, high-end products and distributes them to clients in the entertainment and salon industries, as well as to individual consumers. Her work has been featured in August 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon and at such trade events as the International Beauty Show and the HBA Global Expo. Additionally, Egypt Lawson was a Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2004 and 2007 by business development organization Project Enterprise. To balance her success in business, Egypt Lawson makes charities and community building a priority in her personal and professional life. She launched the online support group, a forum created to give working women a safe place to discuss a variety of issues, including personal empowerment and self-esteem. Through Goddess Haven, Egypt Lawson donates at least 20 hours a month to assist small business owners in developing their companies. Egypt Lawson and her husband Kenyatta Lawson has also recently established Hair That Cares, a non-profit organization that gives medical wigs to financially disadvantaged individuals suffering from disease-related hair loss. By instituting the donation program One for One, Egypt Lawson is able to provide one free medical wig to Hair That Cares with every purchase of a hair prosthesis through Hairline Illusions. A current resident of New York, Egypt Lawson is a member of the Women’s Venture Fund and enjoys practicing karate, riding motorcycles, watching movies, reading, and bowling in her limited free time.
