Edwin Hammond Meredith
- Key Largo US-FL
Equally at home in the kitchen of fine restaurants or diving coral reefs in the Atlantic Ocean, Edwin Hammond Meredith is an outdoor enthusiast and chef based in the Florida Keys. An animal lover and foreign language buff, Edwin Hammond Meredith partakes in a year-round variety of outdoor ventures, including snowmobiling, snowboarding, hiking, biking, camping, and climbing. Currently, Hammond Meredith is pursuing his newfound interest in stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP, a sport that continues to gain popularity in the mainstream sports arena. SUP originated in Waikiki, Hawaii, when seasoned surfers in Waikiki would stand on their long boards and paddle out to take photos of tourists learning to surf. While he is also a traditional surfer, Edwin Hammond Meredith enjoys the added visibility that comes from paddle surfing, where standing height allows him to see deeper into the water and farther across its surface. The hobby complements Hammond Meredith’s keen interest in marine biology, as it allows him to frequently observe marine life in its native habitat. Hammond Meredith has taken this leisure activity to the next level, completing several long-distance water crossings. The most recent event began in Key Largo, Florida, and concluded in Flamingo, Florida, a 33.8 mile route that Hammond Meredith completed in one day. In the future, he hopes to race competitively against other SUP enthusiasts. In addition to water sports such as scuba diving and sailing, Edwin Hammond Meredith enjoys rally racing and has participated in the World Rally Championship. To complement his athletic endeavors, he engages his mind through the study of foreign languages and music.
