About Edgar Gentle

Completing both his undergraduate and his master’s degrees summa cum laude, Edgar Gentle holds a bachelor of science in biology from Auburn University and a master of science in natural resource management and economics from the University of Miami. He subsequently studied law, attending Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship to secure his bachelor of arts and master of arts in jurisprudence. Edgar Gentle ultimately obtained his juris doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1981.

After working for a number of law firms and corporate law divisions in Alabama and Georgia for a number of years, Edgar Gentle set up the firm of Gentle Turner Sexton and Harbison, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1992. As a partner with the firm, he generally serves as a neutral special master and settlement advisor for a range of court cases. Over the years, he has helped facilitate settlements in cases worth more than $2.5 billion in total client awards.
