I am looking to work for a company that values the diversity of my skills and experience. I am able to work collaboratively with clients and am good at developing relationships built on trust and mutual understanding. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals, whether in business or life. I am also keen to leverage and continue to develop my extensive business network.My prior experience has given me the ability to influence in a persuasive, consultative way. Interests of mine include: Motorcycles, Current affairs, Rugby Union and sailing.  I also sit on the committee for the Lighthouse Foundation's Richmond house (  This involves arranging fund raising events.  I also coach and mentor some of the young people at the house on interviewing skills.  Having lived in a range of countries throughout my life I also enjoy travelling.


I started my career in London working in the financial services industry.  I gained experience in Investment Banking and Funds management before transitioning into a sales role within the recruitment industry.  I relocated to Australia in 2001 and moved back into the banking environment spending 3 years working at the National Australia Bank.  I started studying a Master of Business Administration on a part-time basis at Melbourne Business School with the aim of broadening my skills set and developing my theoretical business knowledge.  I started working at MBS in October 2007 and am now looking to embark upon the next stage of my career.

Melbourne Business School (MBS)

Melbourne Business School is one of Australia's top ranked business schools. It's MBA program is currently ranked 52nd in the world (Financial Times Rankings - 2008) and 17th in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit.I work collaboratively with current students and MBS Alumni to help them reach their full potential within their careers. I adopt a structured approach to identifying and approaching potential employers and work with them to identify whether an MBA graduate would add value to their business. I am a vocal advocate of using social networking tools (primarily Linkedin) to maximise my productivity, I also coach students on how to use Linkedin effectively.I manage the relationship the school has with historical MBA recruiters and work with them to facilitate brand building activities on campus. The industry sectors I cover include: Professional services, Information Technology and Resources.Achievements in this role include:

  • Developed new relationships with potential employers and managed existing relationships. This led to successful placement of 14 interns, 40% above target and 47% of the 2008 graduating class securing roles in Professional services.
  • Worked collaboratively with smaller consulting firms to help them develop Melbourne Business School as an ongoing source of talent.
  • Coached students and developed case interview training opportunities, which resulted in a significant increase in interview success rates from the previous year.
  • Designed the graduating survey and managed the reporting process resulting in cost savings of $8k and completion of process 3 months ahead of schedule.

I moved internally from NAB retail banking to an Account Manager role within the Transactional Services team in business banking.  I was responsible for managing the relationship the bank had with a portfolio of mid-tier business banking clients, with borrowings of up to $100m.

Consultant - Retail Bank

National Australia Bank

I worked as a consultant within NAB's Victorian Retail banking business. My achievements in this role included:

  • I was responsible for managing the Victorian retail banks talent pipeline and identified internal and external talent to fill business critical roles.
  • Worked on the implementation of NAB's Customer First initiative. This involved the re-modeling of the branch network to improve the profitability and effectiveness of the network. I managed the recruitment of 21 Local Area Managers in metropolitan Melbourne and rural Victoria.
  • I was responsible for restructuring the recruitment and selection of NAB's Victorian mobile bankers. This enabled us to more effectively identify and attract high performing staff from our competitors.

Consultant - Institutional Banking

I worked within NAB's Institutional Markets and Services area. I managed the identification and attraction of talent within the financial services industry. I worked closely with senior managers to help them identify gaps in their teams. Achievements in the role included:

  • The redesign of NAB's performance and reward program. This involved communicating the new strategy to all areas of the Institutional bank nationally.
  • Proactively approached external talent to ensure high potential candidates were identified in business critical areas.
  • Managed the relocation and reopening of NAB's FX Options desk from Melbourne to Sydney.

TMP Worldwide

I was approached by TMP whilst working at Henderson Global Investors.  They were keen to hire someone with a banking operations background to provide training to the consultants in the banking team.  I was also able to leverage my networks in the investment banking and funds management industry in London.  I left TMP to migrate to Australia.  Achievements whilst at TMP included:

  • Consistently met my sales targets, winning the award for highest billing consultant in August 2001.
  • Placed 5 members of BNP Paribas' Equity Swaps middle office team.  This resulted in TMP establishing themselves as preferred recruitment suppliers.
  • Clients I established relationships with whilst at TMP included: Schroders, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Henderson Global Investors and BNP Paribas.

I initially joined HGI as a contractor and was promoted to Operations Manager within 6 months.  I managed two teams with 7 staff in each.  One team supported the equity dealing desk and the other team supported the FX and money markets dealers and Fixed income fund managers.  Achievements whilst at HGI included:

  • Negotiated service level agreements with our back office department and the front office dealing desk.
  • Managed the implementation and  testing of the Charles River dealing system.
  • Reduced settlement failures by 60% and implemented a system to check middle office keying errors.
  • Managed the relationship HGI had with external recruitment agencies.

I started the MBA on a part-time basis at the beginning of 2007.  I started working at MBS mid way through my third term.  I have completed 18 subjects and have 2 to go.  So far I have achieved an H2A (Distinction, 2:1) average.  I sit on the leadership team of the Consulting Interest Group, the aim is to prepare students interested in a career in Management Consulting with the skills to secure a job.
