  • Supported African institutions in initiating, developing and sustaining digital library projects based on the open source Greenstone Digital Library software suite.
  • Conducted workshops throughout Africa to train librarians which were co-sponsored by UNESCO and IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations).
  • Technical expert on projects such as: DISA (Digital Imaging South Africa, focusing on the socio-political history of South Africa), CAMA (Contemporary African Music and Arts), CPM (Centre for Popular Memory) and AVOIR (African Virtual Open Initiatives and Resources).
  • Secured a grant from UNESCO to fund a feasibility study for a digital library support center for Africa. Recommendations from the feasibility study were implemented by the University of Namibia (http://www.sagreenstone.unam.na/).
