Senior Account Executive

I made my way through the company on the strength of my work and willingness to take new opportunities, moving earning three promotions in under three years to achieve the position of Senior Account Executive.  I was often noted as one of the pro-active thinkers within the company on the subject of new and social media and was tapped as a resource to help counsel clients and colleagues about such outlets.

I built a reputation on my willingness to learn and take on new and different tasks, from developing technical writing skills while assisting on detailed product specification documents to assuming day-to-day project management responsibilities for a major, year-long media relations campaign blanketing the state of California.  A significant portion of my duties with PCGCampbell required my strong written communication skills, though I also have significant experience in event marketing and logistics.

I served an eight-month on-site contract with Ford Motor Company, working with Manufacturing and Quality Public Affairs and then the "crown-jewels" - Product Communications for Consumer Trucks, including participating in the launch events for the 2008 Ford F-Series Super Duty.

Marketing & Ready-to-Learn Coordinator

As the coordinator of the Ready-to-Learn Program, I led a significant amount of outreach to the community in the form of community workshops addressing early literacy with low-income parents.  I was responsible for the coordination of workshop leaders and for the management of program resources and grant writing for future years. 

I was also responsible for internal coordination of the annual Mr. Rogers' Sweater Drive, including providing web content, scripting promotional announcements and corralling internal resources.

I also worked as a Marketing Coordinator, assisting in the programming of interstitials and other general communications tasks.

My primary responsibilities here were writing weekly promotional announcements for on-air use, creating press releases to promote television and radio programming and maintaining the media clips library.

I often served as a camera operator for live, in-studio television filming, as well as a telephone operator for pledge drives.

Annually, I would return to Regent Communications to assist with promotions for a number of the radio stations in their portfolio.  I served as the assistant to the promotions director, covering promotional writing duties if he was absent for any reason and managing the technical set-up and completion of live events.

As part of Annenberg's landmark Program on Online Communities, I study the social, technical and entrepreneurial aspects of Web 2.0.  The program includes both academic and applied studies to give me a well-rounded outlook on the history and future of this emerging market.

As a double-major, I studied in both the Broadcast & Cinematic Arts department (widely recognized as one of the nation's best broadcast programs) and the Integrative Public Relations track.  I was highly active in my education, graduating with academic honors while also serving in many co-educational roles, such as Station Manager of the 1,000-member student volunteer radio station 91.5 WMHW, serving as the Broadcast Department's student alumni liaison and participating in the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Media Relations

My most recent full-time job was as a Senior Account Executive with a public relations firm working on a major media relations campaign for Ford Motor Company.  I have worked in this capacity with trade media, traditional mass media and bloggers and have been fortunate to maintain relationships with many of these contacts after transitioning back to school in pursuit of my Master's.

Online/Print/Broadcast Writing

I have written extensively for broadcast, which I began writing at the age of 17 for the local radio stations with whom I worked.   I also have a breadth of promotional and technical writing experience through work I did as a part of PCGCampbell and on-site with Ford Motor Company.   Finally, I am an active personal writer for the web, and have also contributed many pieces to web sites produced for clients during my tenure at PCGCampbell.

Audio and Video Editing

As part of my Broadcast Major at CMU, I had many opportunities to build skills in video and audio capture and editing.  I served as the Student News Director for studio radio station 91.5 WMHW-FM which required a great deal of news editing skill and have a firm grasp of video editing from a series of courses as well as prior experience dating back to high school film projects which I managed for my church.
