As Reference Coodinator I have several responsibilities:

  • Provide public service to help library patrons locate resources for their research needs.
  • Supervise Library Assistants while in Reference.
  • Prepare orientation presentations each semester for incoming students.
  • Create online Subject/Course/Informational Guides for the library.
  • Give one-on-one or classroom research instruction.
  • Provide personal advice for students research papers including formatting issues, citation style, argumentation, and writing style.
  • Provide expert research help to faculty, staff and students on various subjects such as historical, philosophical, theological, and linguistics.

Skills

Biblical Hebrew

I have completed thirty nine hours of instruction in Hebrew (e.g. Grammar and Exegesis courses). I have also taught half of a summer session for beginning Hebrew and subbed for many classes. I read out of the Hebrew Bible everyday.

Koine Greek

I have completed twenty-one hours of instruction in Greek (e.g. Grammar and Exegesis courses)

Biblical Aramaic

I have completed three hours of instruction in Biblical Aramaic (Middle or Imperial Aramaic)

Syriac

I have completed three hours of instruction in the Syriac language related to the Peshitta. I am familiar with Serto and Estrangelo scripts.

Theological German

I have completed four hours of Theological German instruction and passed a proficiency exam.

Theological French

I have completed 2 hours of Theological French instruction and passed a proficiency exam.
