A business professional with many years of experience, Dwain Carryl still understands the importance of giving back to the community, either through local charities or through his alma maters. An alumnus of both Harvard University and the Yale School of Management, Mr. Carryl served as Treasurer and Board Member of the DeShaun Hill & Harvard Stevens Memorial Scholarship in 2010. The scholarship began in honor of two eponymous Harvard University students who died tragically in a car crash in 1997. For Dwain Carryl, the DeShaun Hill & Harvard Stevens Memorial Scholarship holds special significance, for he became close friends with the two young men as part of the community later known as the "nine-nine," which referred to the class of 1999. In supporting the DeShaun Hill and Harvard Stevens Scholarship, Mr. Carryl helps African-American students survive the financial rigors of attending Harvard, with money going toward paying for books, making printouts and photocopies, and other collegiate necessities.
In addition to the DeShaun Hill & Harvard Stevens Memorial Scholarship, Dwain Carryl supports the Odyssey House in New York City as a member of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Carryl assists The Odyssey House in its goal of aiding individuals and families in dealing with and managing their mental illness, substance abuse issue, or other medical conditions.
