Working with Pittsburgh based CSI Investigations - a rapidly growing corporate investigations and risk management business -  I established CSI's business unit in Atlanta, GA  which is now delivering industry leading investigative and risk management services to the corporate community across the South East region.

After 20+ years within globally operating manufacturing business's, this challenge represents an exciting opportunity to leverage my high growth background and passion for customer loyalty excellence into a service environment for the first time.

My Background

Prior to joining CSI Investigations, I served as President / National Executive -  Middle East & North Africa, for Cooper Industries TX (NYSE:CBE).

Headquartered in Dubai, I enjoyed working closely with the Executive staff of all 8 Cooper Divisions, leveraging their respective technology, channel and brand strengths to develop and execute various strategic growth initiatives.

These initiatives, which included a cohesive vertical market segment strategy, were designed to take advantage of the market opportunities presented by the 22 countries within the MENA region; As a result, our team learned a huge amount  - and then delivered over 500% revenue growth at a 5yr CAGR in excess of 40%; Being propelled along by 13 consecutive quarters of growth within this period also ensured we enjoyed one heck of a ride as well !

While in this role, I was mandated to provide a balance of strategic and tactical direction which saw me establish a network of regional Cooper sales & technical support entities across key locations within the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Libya and both the Western and Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia. Capitalizing on a local  Foreign Direct Investment initiative, the strategy culminated in 2009 when I was instrumental in the Start-Up of Cooper Industries' first 100% owned Saudi Arabian electrical equipment manufacturing facility designed to drive further growth by enabling deeper penetration of their regional client base across the Energy, Utility, Power Generation, Aviation and high-end Construction / Hospitality market segments.

Prior to this, I held the position of Managing Director - Middle East, for the Cooper Crouse-Hinds Division of Cooper Industries, during which time we re-shaped the business to secure regional market leadership becoming a preferred international harsh-area electrical technology provider and local assembler throughout all regional Oil, Gas, Petrochemical & Power Generation Industries.

Previously, I also served as General Manager - MV Switchgear, for Powell Industries / Switchgear & Instrumentation Ltd (Nasdaq:POWL), a UK based designer and manufacturer of high performance Low & Medium Voltage Smart Grid Switchgear & Motor Control Equipment up to 17.5kV. During my tenure, I led the start up of S&I's new MV Switchgear product division and firmly established S&I as a respected supplier within all IEC based Oil, Gas, Petrochemical & Power Generation Markets.

My cross functional experience, gained from over 15 years of International postings, has seen me secure numerous multi-million dollar B2B / B2C contracts across a wide range of Industrial Capital Equipment & Electrical System Applications, carefully integrate newly acquired business units, prototype & introduce new products and implement cost reduction programs.

I presently live in Atlanta, GA, USA.

Selected Achievements

  • Emerging Market Development - Instigated & directed a full spectrum of divisional growth initiatives leading the team from start-up to 13 consecutive quarters of growth, at a 5 year CAGR of 42%.
  • Full P&L Leadership - Directly responsible for all aspects of a $100MM+ P&L. Consistently delivered annual revenue and profitability growth above budget.
  • Strategic Solution Selling - Developed & negotiated various innovative sales partnerships with government & publicly owned blue-chip industries for the single source / blanket supply of high capital value electrical equipment. This resulted in repeat sales of $175MM+ over a 10 yr period.
  • Business Model Re-engineering - Identified & secured executive approval to establish a Free-Trade Zone Enterprise delivering $multi-MM corporate tax savings and significantly increasing customer service levels by 54%.
  • M&A - Integrated the team, facilities & resources of various business acquisitions to deliver synergy case objectives. Carefully mentored and migrated the new teams towards the business culture of a successful NYSE listed organization.
  • Strategic Talent Acquisition - Recruited & trained a 74 strong multi-cultural team, covering Financial Management, Technical Sales, Human Resource, Logistics & Customer Support - mentoring key colleagues as required.

At my core, I'm an international business "growth'" guy that understands how to enable and drive both Industrial Technology Manufacturers & Electrical Systems Companies to successfully outpace both mature & emerging markets around the World. Fundamentally, I do this, by pulling outperforming teams together and then backing them to the hilt!

I'm fortunate to have developed within both privately owned & larger NYSE / F500 organizations - where I gained global market knowledge across segments including Energy, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Hot Metal, Continuous Process Industries & Power Generation / Utilities along with high end Commercial Construction.

2004 - 2009

President / National Executive - Middle East & North Africa

Cooper Industries

Chartered to develop and execute an aggressive 5 year business strategy & operating plan to realize the potential of the MENA regional economies and deliver a quantum leap in growth across all Cooper Divisions. Initiated and directed multi-faceted divisional / platform growth initiatives, including the introduction of a vertical market business model, growing total regional sales over 544% at a 5yr CAGR of 42% by the end of this assignment.

Set pre-qualification & tendering strategy, leading the team to award & execution of $75MM+ for the design, supply, installation, testing & commissioning of LED based Airfield Ground Lighting and control system technology at 2 major international airports.

Worked with a Government Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Agency to establish 100% equity in a new manufacturing entity: Subsequently identified & undertook the due diligence to secure a 90,000ft2 brown-field facility for an electrical equipment manufacturing plant which opened in  2009 and went on to deliver a significant $Multi-MM revenue contribution within the 1st full year of operation.

Managing Director

Cooper Crouse-Hinds

Recruited into the Crouse-Hinds division of Cooper Industries to re-vitalize its Middle Eastern presence and drive a significant share increase for the supply of harsh & hazardous electrical equipment within the Oil, Gas & Petrochemical market segments.

Full P&L leadership – directly responsible for all aspects of the local P&L.

Overhauled Channel Strategy - Consolidated 15 dealers into a streamlined regional community of 10 full-line stocking distributors, augmented by enhancing the end-user sales specification team to drive new product specification and control gross margins. This resulted in the successful award of various strategic blanket supply agreements including a  $Multi-MM 10 year material consignment agreement with Saudi Aramco.

Deployed a local assembly strategy into 4 geographic locations which dramatically reduced lead times from 7 weeks to 7 days across 3 key product lines and subsequently increased pull through of adjacent non-locally assembled products.

Upon completion of this assignment Cooper Crouse-Hinds had secured regional market leadership becoming a preferred international technology provider and local assembler throughout all Oil, Gas, Petrochemical & Power Generation Industries.

1999 - 2002

General Manager - MV Switchgear Division

Powell Industries

S&I is a subsidiary of Powell Industries Inc that designs and manufactures high performance IEC based Low & Medium Voltage Smart Grid Switchgear & Motor Control Equipment supplying complete electrical power system solutions to the Oil, Gas and Continuous Process industries.Promoted to establish, start up and run a new product division undertaking the design, prototyping and manufacture to ISO 9001 of high performance Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear / Controlgear rated up to 17.5kV. Upon completion of this assignment, the division had grown from zero to $Mulit-MM annual sales and was firmly established as a supplier within all IEC based Oil, Gas, Petrochemical & Power Generation Markets.

1997 - 1999

Senior Project Manager

Powell Industries

Simultaneously managed multiple Switchgear projects that typically totalled around $20MM, across various forms of design, supply and install contracts to service a very demanding client base of international EPC Contractors; Provided clients with a single point of commercial and technical responsibility, while holding accountability for the growth of contract profitability through to completion of the Warranty Period.

Managed a $9MM contract through to site hand-over for a Korean EPC contractor, covering the supply of 3 Modular Packaged Substations at a major petrochemical company in Kuwait. The project deliverables covered the design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of 'Fire Rated' pre-fabricated modular substation housings incorporating:- LV & MV Switchgear / Smart Grid Motor Control Centers, Bus Ducting, F&G system, HVAC / Pressurization systems, Station Battery / UPS & substation utilities.

1993 - 1997

Middle East Regional Manager

Powell Industries

Promoted & relocated to Bahrain, to establish a Middle East regional business presence, supporting an Energy market expansion strategy.

Negotiated & secured a unique single sourcing agreement from Dubai Aluminum Co for the Smart Grid Switchgear & Motor Control requirements across 2 major expansion projects, resulting in $50MM+ incremental business over a 7 yr period.

Secured comprehensive company and commodity code product approval from all the major Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industries in the Arabian Gulf Region, ultimately resulting in annual sales revenue growth from $1.5MM to $12MM.
