Profile

I am a passionate, dedicated teacher with experience teaching primary, high school and university students. In my short spell as a teacher I have already had the pleasure of teaching Mathematics, IT and Science both in South Africa and Oman. During my time as a teacher in South Africa I was selected as a lead teacher for my region, the Metro South Education District. This position gave me the opportunity to help teachers in my district who were struggling by providing and facilitating training sessions for them. I taught the teachers how to deliver the CAPS curriculum to their students, how to use technology in their classrooms and sometimes I would have to help the teachers plan, develop content and strategise for their upcoming terms.

In 2014, I was employed as a Mathematics Content Developer at Oxford University Press  South Africa. My role was to make books and digital applications that would make profit for the company. I managed a team of 6 people in-house, 11 writers, 2 typesetters, 2 editors and 2 illustrators. I also had the pleasure of giving a lecture on 'the state of the digital divide in South Africa' at Worcester College, Oxford and had input in developing the digital strategy with the senior management of Oxford University Press for the next 5 years. The last project that I was involved in was their famous flippit Android app.

I am highly computer literate having spent the early part of my career as an IT and Data Analyst  and another 2 years working as an Educational Technologist at the University of Cape Town(UCT). I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma (Honours Degree Equivalent) in Information Systems and many other specific IT related courses. I work well under pressure, I have a strong will and very good interpersonal skills. This is demonstrated by my ability to reach deadlines and my natural tendency  to adopt leadership responsibilities. I use technology everyday in my classroom teaching with interactive whiteboards, iPads and appleTV. I also use  a learning management system called iCampus everyday for keeping parents updated on student progress.

I am presently employed as the Head of Department for Mathematics in the senior phase at Al Raneem Private School in Oman. My responsibility include managing teacher performance, student performance and content quality assurance. I am also partly  responsible for the performance management of the school. In addition to this, I teach Mathematics, IT and help with Economics whenever there is a need.
