Learning Ally (formerly RFB&D)

Communications leader and company spokesperson for national nonprofit serving hundreds of thousands of students with visual and learning disabilities. Messaging prime and comms counsel on the leadership team. Instituted a story-driven PR and social media program mining experiences from a remarkable base of students, parents, teachers, specialists and volunteers. Partner and liaison with renowned thought leaders; host webinars and live events; produce video and media campaign assets; drive broadcasting across a large suite of social channels; spark engagement and community building with thousands of parents, teachers and specialists.

  • Expanded social community presence to number two position in the crowded education / learning disabilities space, reaching hundreds of thousands and engaging countless influencers.
  • Instituted a pubic webinar program with acclaimed experts that drew tens of thousands of parents and teachers; produced and broke the record for most highly attended webinar ever staged by Education Week.

Orphan Foundation of America

Defined and drove public outreach, and supported fundraising for national nonprofit serving tens of thousands of youth aging out foster care. 

  • Partnered with VP of Development to bring in $1.3 million in corporate in-kind donations in 2008 - 2009.
  • Launched a national media outreach program achieving extensive coverage in regional and community publications, TV, NPR affiliates, and hundreds of online venues, using a full suite of online distribution tools (Burrelles-ENR, Business Wire, PRWeb, ProfNet, etc.).
  • Created a speaker bureau of foster youth trained for spokesmanship on TV, radio, and in print.
  • Built up potent virtual community presence via social media sites, blogosphere, You Tube, Twitter, etc.
  • Led branding and website relaunch, and instituted extensive SEO measures, boosting web traffic by over 20 percent; and elevating online donations, volunteerism and public awareness.
  • Hosted media events on Capitol Hill with U.S. Senators, Representatives, and execs of corporate sponsors (e.g. FedEx, Oracle, Freddie Mac, Schering-Plough).

Led marcom/PR efforts for the premier association representing the U.S. printing and publishing industry. Advocated for major manufacturers like Kodak, Xerox, Heidelberg, HP, Adobe and 400 other companies.

  • Rebranded Association presence from logo to website, print materials, displays, booths, etc.
  • Partnered with Graphic Arts Show Company to stage industry-leading conferences, trade shows and events, e.g. Graph Expo, PRINT at McCormick Place in Chicago.
  • Transformed NPES News, a previously staid industry newsletter, into a popular content-rich publication featuring critical industry trend reports, CEOs interviews, spotlights on international business, and more.
  • Partnered with the Government Affairs director and key Board members to communicate policy positions out to the industry.
  • Assembled and chaired Marketing Advisory Committee of industry thought leaders.

Drove public relations and employee communication for $1billion Heidelberg-Kodak joint venture.

  • Directed key messaging and broadcast for global product launches; served as company spokesman, media contact, and lead writer; supervised PR agency resources; co-managed communications budgets of up to $1.2 million.
  • Built holistic internal communication program uniting 4,000 employees dispersed across sites in Germany, Rochester, Atlanta, and sales offices across the U.S. and Europe.

Guided PR, marcom and employee communication for the Operator Services division of a global telecom leader.

  • Served as division spokesperson and media/analyst contact; defined messaging for global markets.
  • Directed lifecycle PR and marcom for Directory One operator search, creating sales tools and collateral, helping the team achieve over 70 percent market share within three years.
  • Established Voice of the Customer program bringing in executives from Bell Atlantic, USWest, and major customers to dialogue with Nortel employees, improving understanding of client requirements.
