Dr. William Belfar is President and Chief Executive Officer of Manhattan Medical & Psychiatric Services, PC, a medical group that treats mental health patients. Dr. Belfar specializes in psychiatric disorders such as anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and autism. He also serves as the Associate Medical Director of Adult Inpatient Services at the Rye Hospital Center in Rye, New York. In addition to these positions, Dr. Belfar works as Consulting Psychiatrist at various medical and rehabilitation centers across New York state, including Pathways Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Niskayuna and Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy. Dr. William Belfar holds membership in the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry (ASAP). Between 1998 and 1999, Dr. Belfar served as the Chairperson of the Bylaws Committee in New York’s ASAP chapter. Dr. Belfar completed a yearlong fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Between 1991 and 1994, Dr. Belfar undertook a neurology residency at the Boston University Medical Center. After that residency, he completed a three-year residency in psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. William Belfar received his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Belfar is a devoted father and outside of his medical practice enjoys skiing, swimming, and traveling.
