Robert G. Robinson, M.D., developed solid foundations for his career in medicine at Cornell University Medical College. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics at Cornell University, where he placed on the dean’s list and earned the Mullen Engineering Scholarship Award. During medical school, Dr. Robinson studied at the Medical College’s Department of Anatomy. He completed an internship at the Montefiore Hospital & Albert Einstein Medical Center before undertaking a residency as an Assistant Psychiatrist at his alma mater’s medical center.Subsequently, Dr. Robert G. Robinson took a role as a Research Associate with the National Institute of Mental Health’s Laboratory of Neuropharmacology at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He then served as a Housestaff Fellow and Assistant Resident for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Before launching into his career in academia, Dr. Robinson further acted as a Maudsley Exchange Resident and Chief Resident for Johns Hopkins. In his early career, Dr. Robert G. Robinson garnered the Research Scientist Development Award (Type II) and the Research Scientist Award, in addition to receiving a Mellon Fellowship.Today, Dr. Robert G. Robinson researches post-stroke depression as a Professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry. He particularly focuses on the use of antidepressants and transcranial magnetic stimulation to improve the overall wellbeing and recovery rates of stroke patients. During his career, Mr. Robinson has contributed to more than 500 publications, adding vast amounts of knowledge to the psychiatric field.
