Lester Sandman, MD, is a licensed psychiatrist with 25 years of experience in a variety of positions in the medical field, including a clinical psychiatrist, instructor, clinical administrator, and medical consultant. Dr. Sandman currently devotes his time to his private psychiatric practice in Bellevue, Washington, where he specializes in medication management and the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Additionally, Dr. Sandman works as a consultant for physicians throughout the Bellevue and Kirkland areas.
Lester Sandman, MD, spent the early years of his medical career serving the United States Army in a variety of capacities. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1986, Dr. Sandman completed an internship and residency in psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After completing his residency, Lester Sandman, MD, served as a Senior Teaching Fellow and Instructor in the Department of Psychology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where he educated medical students, physician assistants, and interns at three hospitals.
In 1990, Dr. Sandman was deployed to Saudi Arabia as the Chief of Psychiatry Service for the 86th Evacuation Hospital, where he provided support for soldiers of the Army’s 18th Corps during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. His efforts in Saudi Arabia earned him the first of two Army Commendation medals. Lester Sandman, MD, earned his second Army Commendation Medal for his work as Chief of Inpatient Services for the Department of Psychiatry at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, in recognition of his department’s excellence in clinical services despite the downsizing of regional medical facilities. Additionally, Dr. Sandman was honored with the Army’s Meritorious Service Medal while serving as Chief of the Department of Psychiatry at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
Lester Sandman, MD, maintains membership in the Washington State Medical Society. In addition to certification by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, Dr. Sandman is licensed to practice in Washington, California, Arizona, and Hawaii.
