About Dr Jay Capunitan

An experienced internist, Dr. Jay Capunitan has focused his medical practice on primary care and infectious disease. He began his career in the Philippines as a graduate of the doctor of medicine and surgery program at the University of Santo Tomas, where he had previously earned a bachelor's degree in nursing. After a postgraduate internship and subsequent residency in internal medicine, Dr. Jay Capunitan entered primary care.

Jay Capunitan, MD, served in the Philippines as a staff physician at Our Lady of Mediatrix Hospital in Camarines Sur and later at MTECH Medical Hospital in Maktai City. He then traveled to the United States for a residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he was named chief resident in 2009.

Dr. Capunitan also successfully completed an infectious disease fellowship at University Hospital, formerly known as the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School. Also the author of several articles published in peer-reviewed journals, he has presented at numerous professional conferences and grand rounds on various infectious conditions and their treatments.
