In private practice since 1987, Dr. Jane Schlecker is a physician whose specialty is endocrinology. She treats diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, and pituitary abnormalities, as well as hormonal imbalances, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, osteoporosis, adrenal disorders, and parathyroid disorders. Dr. Schlecker, whose practice is located in Brooklyn, New York, is the recipient of the Patient’s Choice Award in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, as well as the Compassionate Doctor Award, in 2010 and 2011.Jane Schlecker attended Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, graduating with her Bachelor’s degree. She furthered her education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), studying nutrition and metabolism. Dr. Schlecker subsequently enrolled at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, receiving her Doctor of Medicine in 1980. Dr. Jane Schlecker performed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York from 1980 to 1983. She completed a fellowship for specialty training in endocrinology, which was completed in 1985 at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Schlecker furthered her specialty training with a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology, working with Dr. Ruth Freeman at the Albert Einstein College College of Medicine, in the Bronx, New York.Dr. Jane Schlecker entered private practice after completing her second fellowship. She is also a member of the Ancillary Staff at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn. She is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Schlecker is an active member of her community and has volunteered with City Harvest, a renowned food rescue organization that collects food and delivers it to 600 community food programs throughout New York City. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, photography, and spending time with her family.
