About Dr Ira Klemons

Dr. Ira Klemons served for over three decades as director of the Center for Headaches and Facial Pain in South Amboy, New Jersey. During his career, he saw roughly 20,000 patients for headaches, facial pain, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunctions, and sleep apnea. He has delivered lectures at hospitals and medical schools around the world and has served as a visiting professor at the Catholic University de Salta’s TMJ Disorders-Graduate Specialty Program in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In New Jersey, Dr. Ira Klemons held affiliations with such medical facilities as Raritan Bay Medical Center, Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center, and the Metropolitan Surgical Institute.

After earning a dental degree from the New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. Ira Klemons undertook doctoral studies at The Graduate School at Penn State and completed the first PhD focused on headache, facial pain, and TMJ disorder treatment. Dr. Klemons has represented 6,000 medical practitioners at the National Institutes of Health Conference on Temporomandibular Disorders as an appointed delegate of the American Academy of Pain Management.

Among his philanthropic contributions, Dr. Ira Klemons provided care for numerous people in disadvantaged communities ranging from New York’s Lower East Side to Tibetan villages in the Himalayan Mountains. In recognition of his efforts, he received a Humanitarian Service Award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.

Dr. Ira Klemons is retired from clinical practice and now consults for other professionals.
