About Dr Henry Schwartz

An attending psychiatrist at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York for 20 years, Dr. Henry Schwartz also held teaching and supervisory positions there. In the mid-1990s, he was the medical director of psychiatric services at the adolescent health center. He subsequently served as the director of child psychiatry training. Since 2009, Dr. Henry Schwartz has also been on the teaching faculty at the New York University Medical Center. At the same time, he has maintained a private psychiatric practice since 1989.

Henry P. Schwartz, MD, earned his medical degree at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completed a psychiatry residency at Yale University. He received postdoctoral training in child and adolescent psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Westchester Division. He concluded his clinical training through the psychoanalytic institute at Columbia University.

Within the professional community, Dr. Schwartz was president of the Association for Psychoanalytic Medicine’s from 2011 to 2013. Dr. Henry Schwartz was also chair of the APM's program committee and editor-in-chief the Bulletin of the Association for Psychoanalytic Medicine In that capacity he guided a revamping of the Association’s journal..
