Dr. Ezekiel Akande

CEO and medical director of Somerset Regional Pain Center, Dr. Ezekiel Akande completed a fellowship in pain management at the Tufts University teaching hospital Baystate Medical Center. He fulfilled anesthesiology residencies at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center, preceded by a Columbia University internship in internal medicine at Harlem Hospital. Before relocating from Nigeria to the United States, Dr. Ezekiel Akande satisfied the requirements of an internal medicine residency at the University of Ife Teaching Hospital. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine and served one year in the Nigeria National Youth Service Corps.
Early in his career, Dr. Ezekiel Akande worked as an assistant clinical professor and attending anesthesiologist at Harlem Hospital, where he received the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award for several consecutive years. He more recently held the position of director of anesthesiology for Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Kentucky. At Somerset Regional Pain Center, Dr. Akande runs a multimodal facility in Somerset, Kentucky, where he provides comprehensive pain treatment for patients with myelopathy, headaches, spine disorders, autonomic neuropathy, and many other diverse conditions.
Actively engaged with colleagues, Dr. Ezekiel Akande belongs to such professional associations as the International Association for the Study of Pain and the Society for Pain Practice Management. He supports various philanthropic efforts in Nigeria as a contributor to the Kayode Akande Foundation and The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations.
