Providing strategic vision for 25- bed Critical Access Hospital with an annual revenue of 30 million dollars and 232 employees. With the help of an amazing leadership team and frontline staff, we have achieved the following in just nine months:

  • Reduced overall Accounts Payable by over one million dollars and brought all accounts to current status since assuming CEO role.
  • Reduced Accounts Receivable from 88 days to 50 days with an overall goal of 45 days by fiscal year end.
  • Recruited new Chief Financial Officer to assisted in executing financial vision.
  • Recruited five physicians, a dentist, two Advanced Practice nurses, and two Physician's Assistant.
  • Aquired a seven-provider private practice medical clinic using employed physician model.
  • Deployed a new satellite physician clinic in neighboring town.
  • Received second Press Ganey Summit Award for patient satisfaction at or above the 95 percentile nationwide. 
  • First Critial Access Hospital in Iowa to open an Electronic ICU in partnership with Mercy Medical Center Des Moines.

  • Worked in collaboration with nine direct reporting department managers and provided a vision for cultural changes based on the Studer Philosphy that yielded a 25% increase in employee satisfaction.
  • Developed close professional ties with medical staff members to ensure expectations were exceeded in interactions with organization. 
  • Recognized as a Mercy Health Network Great Manager as determined by results from the Gallup Corporation"s Work Place Survey. 
  • Extensive involvement at the executive level in all facets of a $7.3 million Renovation and Modernization project including design, financing, phasing, and construction. Areas included new Emergency and Physical Therapy departments, Radiology renovation, and addition of Medical/Surgical Private Wing.
  • Strategically planned for new equipment associated with Renovation and Modernization including capital budget preparation, purchase negotiations, procuring equipment, and managing implementation of all items including:
    • Patient Monitoring and telemetry systems
    • Patient beds and carts
    • Radiology room
    • C-Arm
    • CT Scanner
    • PACS system
    • Phone system
  • Implemented and directly supervised patient satisfaction program in the Emergency Department yielding national recognition for being in the top 5% of hospitals nation wide for three years or twelve consecutive quarters as monitored by the Press Ganey Corporation.
  • Initiated implementation of Electronic Medical Record System throughout facility including simultaneous project management of wireless network development. 
  • Extremely successful in recruiting for positions at all levels throughout the organization including department manager and professional level positions.
  • Actively engaged in Continuous Quality Improvment Council yielding scores "On average or significantly better than average" on all of Iowa Healthcare Collaborative's annual monitors.
