With more than 30 years of experience in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Donald Pirodsky is a retired psychiatrist and educator who resides in Sarasota, Florida. In 1962, he enrolled at the Virginia Military Institute. After a two-year tenure, Dr. Donald Pirodsky went on to further his education at Hofstra University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. He continued his educational endeavors at the State University New York (SUNY) at Syracuse (now SUNY Upstate Medical University), where he earned his medical degree in 1970. Dr. Pirodsky completed a diverse range of residencies and internships throughout upstate New York, Chicago, and Tucson.For 30 years, Dr. Pirodsky maintained psychiatry practices. From 1976 until 2006, Dr. Donald Pirodsky operated a successful practice in both Fayetteville and Syracuse, New York. Dr. Pirodsky has a broad array of experience pertaining to his field of psychiatry, including areas such as the psychiatric treatment of the hearing impaired, clinical psychopharmacology, and outpatient treatment for those with depression and anxiety disorders.Dr. Donald Pirodsky has published numerous scholarly articles and two well-regarded books, the Primer of Clinical Psychopharmacology: A Practical Guide published in 1981 and a second edition that was published a few years later. Along with serving as a renowned author, Dr. Pirodsky was also a highly respected educator. Among his most prominent lectures were a series he presented at the University Of Arizona College Of Nursing.Dr. Donald Pirodsky earned respect from his peers due to his involvement with the resident and internship evaluation committee at the State University New York. He served on several other committees, including a research committee and an outpatient committee. In addition to his involvements at SUNY, Dr. Pirodsky also served as a committee member with the residency curriculum at the University Medical Center in Arizona.
