About Dr Christopher Defilippi

After earning his bachelor of arts in chemistry from Amherst College, Dr. Christopher deFilippi attended the University of Rochester to obtain his doctor of medicine (MD). He subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at Boston University and the University Hospital. Dr. Christopher deFilippi then relocated to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas to complete a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital and the Dallas Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Since 2000, Christopher deFilippi, MD, has been an associate professor of medicine with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. His daily duties involve providing clinical care to a broad range of hospitalized and ambulatory cardiology patients, training cardiology fellows in the interpretation of cardiac ultrasounds, teaching residents and medical students on rounds and with didactic lectures. Dr. deFilippi also served for 12 years on the University of Maryland Baltimore institutional review board (IRB), with 7 years as the vice chair of the IRB.

I early 2016, Dr. deFilippi will be transitioning to the Inova Heart and Vascular institute. One of his roles will be to supervise the Phase 1 drug study unit and interface with the the Inova IRB to ensure the safe and ethical conduct of the growing research presence at this organization.
