Provide general primary and tertiary care to pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood. Provide comprehensive medical care to the patients and their families with emphasis on prevention, nutrition and counseling. Strong interest in sports medicine, nutrition, developmental and adolescent pediatrics. Enjoy preparing the adoslescent for young adulthood and transitioning them to an adult physician. Enjoy discussing all aspects of maintaining good health including dental evaluations and recommendations. Experience with neurologically challenged patients in many areas including seizures, ADHD and Cerebral Palsy. Enthusiastic in providing young families with the knowledge to use today's current technologies in tracking the health and wellness of their children; by using iphone apps to monitor their children's vaccines, weights, heights and even their menstrual cycles. Strong proponent of a telemedicine program to help promote a better health care delivery system that communicates more directly with patients and their families. Enjoyed mentoring and teaching many nurse practitioners while practicing primary pediatrics.

Sedation Pediatrician

Miami Children's Hospital

Radiology department pediatrician responsible for all imaging and procedural conscious, moderate and deep sedations. Evaluated all patients scheduled for sedation including initial assessment, ordering sedation protocols and administering  the sedation medications for all CT, MRI, Nuclear and PET CT imaging studies. Provided sedation services for all radiology procedures including ultrasound guided renal and thyroid biopsies, CT guided abscess drainages, and fluoroscopy guided lumbar punctures from initial assessment to complete recovery in our state of the art sedation unit. Provided all sedation services to other hospital departments including neurology, ophthalmology and audiology; sedating patients for their BERA's, EEG's and ERG's. Successfully sedated and recovered over 25,000 pediatric patients for their requested studies. Complete understanding of the process involved in obtaining  imaging studies under sedation for the pediatric patient, from initial evaluation to discharge. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching the pediatric residents about the process involved in sedation, monitoring and recovering pediatric patients.

Provided general primary care to patients from birth to young adulthood while practicing in a group setting. Provided comprehensive health and wellness services to my pediatric patients and their families. Enthusiastically provided a comprehensive pediatric clinical rotation for medical students from NOVA Southeastern University; teaching all aspects of office pediatrics from medical education, to understanding the concept of true professionalism, as leader of a business, an office and most importantly of families' health and wellness.

Personal

I was born in Miami, Florida on May 17, 1966. My parents are Cuban immigrants who arrived to Miami, Florida in 1961. My father has been an accountant for 49 years and my mother was a music and art teacher who is now retired. My  spouse is an engineer who works for Miami-Dade Water And Sewer for the past 30 years. I have been married for 20 years and have two sons who are 10 and 7 years old. They love to play soccer and baseball and  have given me the joy of being a true soccer mom. Thanks to Francisco and Gabriel who make me a better pediatrician every day!
