Developed and managed annual operating budgets for four cost centers with a combined average of $800,000 per year. Designed, planned and negotiated partnerships for facility improvements and equipment upgrades that resulted in substantial savings. Worked closely with outside consultants to develop and implement environmental protection and facility security plans in accordance with the regulations as outlined by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Homeland Security.

Managed and directed operations of a 25,000 sq. ft. big box store and a 30,000 sq. ft. distribution center with a combined inventory of over $2.5 million. Administered and controlled in store pricing, operating costs and inventory. Direct reports included three managers and 20 associates.

Corporate Culture – Fully embraced and adopted the company defined 5S Lean Manufacturing Program to promote and ensure efficiency and first rate customer service.

Quality Assurance – Guaranteed all delivery drivers had current licenses, medical cards, endorsements and applicable training.

The largest bulk transportation company serving North America with over 7,500 stainless steel trailers, 3,300 tractors and 130 full service terminals.

Managed and established terminal startup operations that provided transportation of hazardous materials. Demonstrated a high level of initiative, dedication and commitment by working the operation on my own for 10 months and being on call 24/7 including holidays for 13 months straight.

Business Growth – Built the operation from zero drivers and no equipment to 7 drivers, 7 tractors and 18 trailers. Consistently increased the number of loads hauled on a monthly basis. 80% increase realized over 13 month period.

Accountability – Dispatched drivers, managed preventive maintenance on equipment, maintained operational reports. Conducted safety meetings and enforced safety policies and procedures; ensured drivers, tractors and trailers were DOT compliant.

Managed and controlled all aspects related to facility management, bulk cement distribution and marine operations. Extensive experience conducting inventory control, preventive maintenance and scheduling shipping and receiving via truck, railcar and ocean going ships and barges.

Safety – Maintained excellent safety record and per man hour medical costs at 22% below industry standard.

Compliance – First facility within the company to implement, meet and exceed requirements for developing new lockout/tag out, confined space and fall protection policies.

Training and Education – Maintained employee training, environmental awareness and Best Management Practices (BMP’s) in compliance with company and regulatory agency policies and procedures.

Managed and oversaw the startup operations of one new terminal and two acquired railcar receiving terminals. Facilitated and handled railcar ordering, tracking and billing and the scheduling and dispatching of truck deliveries.

Sales Support – Assisted sales staff in developing new customer base, ensured accuracy of sales and operational reports.

Flexible – Traveled to San Diego and Richmond CA to direct work on special projects in the bulk cement warehouse storage facilities.
